Went to the JY Saturday morning, pulled the new wiring to match my computers and transmission, then went home and swapped it all around. By 2 pm Saturday, she was back up and running, and........................SHIFTING!
So we took it out to a friends’ Saturday night:
Now with it working again, I set to work doing other things. I wired up my lights and cleaned the inside yesterday morning:
Then we went to town and did some shopping for a few hours. Got back and set to work finishing my other wheels so they were ready:
I still have some exhaust work to do (new exhaust), but what’s there works for now. I’ll be settling in to body work this week, so hopefully be painting it in the next couple weeks. Then I’ll start searching for tires for my wheels and get it all finished up.

I love the lights behind the grille. Is that even legal, actually?

I guess I’ll find out if I get pulled over for it.
I don’t see why they wouldn’t be, they’re not colored or strobes?

Thanks, it’s awesome to finally be able to drive it.

After 3 months of straight hell, I think anyone would have given up.
Wanting to see my vision through to complet ion is the only thing that kept me going.

Now it’s just odds and ends stuff. New exhaust, new struts/shocks, get the body ready for paint.
Once all that’s done, I plan on driving the hell out of it.

Bravo sir!! Not to suggest some cra zy deadline but you should totally drive that thing, or one of your cool vans, up to Roadkill nights here in Pontiac. It’s in a month. Any of your Mopars sitting ne xt to a Demon in the car show would be sweet. Plus the surrounding Woodward dream cruise is a great time.

WOOOOOOOOOO!
That is all.

Thought so! There were non-SRT4 rims which looked similar on the Neon as well.

Maybe something with the location relative to the headlights? I don't know if there's a nation or state by state standard for fog light placement, but there may be a rule that they have to be out of line with headlights. It's also illegal in some places to have foglights that come on without the low beams being on, or having high beams and fogs on at thr same time.

Technically, they’re below the centerline of the headlight, which is the requirement for fogs here IIRC.
As far as legality driving with them without the headlights on, I’ve never had an issue in the van:
And I usually run all 4 on during the day, without headlights. At night I use the bottom pair for fogs, top pair for high beams.

I believe they were 15/16" on the non-SRT4s IIRC.
SRT4 wheels are 17".

This is exactly what I screamed as I took it down the road and felt it shifting through the gears.
Followed by screaming at random people walking on the sidewalk: IT FUCKING LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The deadline isn’t the problem, the 7+hr drive is. If it was closer I would push to get it done, it sounds like a really fun show.

It is, I’ve gone every year. If you happen to change your mind throw up the bat signal for the Detroi t area Oppo’s. They are always out in force for the Dream Cruise week. I’m hoping my uncle will drive his 36' Plymouth out here but McHenry, Il is not much closer than you and his car is much slower.

Yeah, I think I read that was a PA specific thing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that van, by the way. I love the brush guard. Where did you get it? I want to put one on my Golf but I don’t want to have to do a bunch of fabrication work.
![]() 07/16/2018 at 13:08 |

It’s custom built, custom fabbed. Used to work in a metal shop, so steel tubing and benders were everywhere, as were welders.

At this point I’m convinced you’re a wizard. That’s impressive.

Eh. 90s Mopars are cheap to buy, cheap to maintain, and hella easy to modify. You just need to know what parts to swap.

I wish it was that simple!
